====== Gallery Status ======

Every gallery is in one of four states. The status tells you whether the
gallery is accepting uploads and whether guests can view it.

===== Upcoming =====

The gallery is created but hasn't started. Guests who open the link see a
holding message rather than an empty gallery.

> **Reminder:** The Event Date field is display only. It does not move a
> gallery from Upcoming to Live. See [[setup:create-event|Setup Gallery]].

===== Live =====

The gallery is accepting photos and guests can view, download, and share.
This is the state your gallery is in during the event. This status is set by your first update.

===== Ended =====

The event is over. Uploads have stopped, but the gallery stays viewable and
guests can still download. The gallery will automaticly end after 40 hours. Unless ended manually in the dashboard. The end time is based off of the time the gallery went **Live**

Guests who bookmarked the link keep their access, and clients can send it to friends and family.

===== Expired =====

Galleries expire **one year after the event**. An expired gallery is no
longer viewable — guests opening the link see an expiry message instead of
photos.

> ⚠️ **Tell clients about the one-year window up front.** Anyone who wants
> to keep their photos permanently should download them well before the
> gallery expires. Photos are deleted **PERMANENTLY** 90 days after the gallery expires.

==== Renewing a gallery ====

Expired galleries can be renewed for **$19.99 per year, per gallery**. You will receive an email 30 days before and 30 days after.

Renewal is per gallery rather than account-wide, so you only pay for the
events your clients still care about.
